| Community Progress | | by: Nite - Saturday 20 February 2010 - 21:02:08 | The PwnShop community was started right when Team Fortress 2 was released, back in Fall of 2007. That is also the same time I started working on a plugin that would evolve and offer various game modes (most of which were from Quake series), such as Excessive, Instagib, Melee Only and One vs All.
Fast forward to 2010, we're still going (rather) strong in Team Fortress 2. We still have a server, PwnShop #1 (or PwnShop EU) that still gets players every day. However, Team Fortress 2 is winding down now. It is a very fun but repetitive game. I know, many games are like that.
Now, a new game is about to be released which seems rather fun. I have already posted my feedback on this site praising the game. It truly is a great game. Main reason I have set my eyes on this game is I believe that we, as a community, need to support mroe than one game (sounds hard, I know). Team Fortress 2 is great but let's face it: it won't be around forever. I don't know about you guys but I don't think its a good idea to have a community centered around 1 and only 1 game.
I have started a thread in our new forum about getting us a server. If possible, please support this idea. I have looked long and hard for another game for us all (as community) to try and this seems like a good one. The game is not released yet but beta for it is available (on STEAM too if you pre-order).
Please see this thread and vote if you're willing to help us support a server.
We need to expand sometime, perhaps now's a good time to start?

I am hoping to see our community grow even further this year. I will do my best with adding new mods and such to Team Fortress 2 while the game is still alive. If you have any gamemode suggestions, head over to this thread and post some.
I am hoping to tackle a new mod after I am done with Apwnalypse (which isn't too far now) since I have resumed working it on recently. I am really hoping to finish it this time around. Unlike our "private" plugin, this one will be public. To learn more about Apwnalypse, head to this thread that Sweet and Sour Dragon has started (yes, it is quite old).
I want to thank all of you for sticking around with our small community. Here's hoping that this upcoming year will be even better than previous (2009).

| Happy Birthday, Part 2 | | by: snooch - Wednesday 28 October 2009 - 21:25:33 | Yes indeed, the Pwnshop reaches its two year mark and the community has evolved so much since then. It seems like only yesterday it was just a listen server that Nite was hosting on his home PC. So much has changed since then and we would especially like to thank all those who have stuck with us through the ups and the downs.
A big thank you goes out to every single community member, all of our staff and server admins (past and present), and the server ops. Also, I would like to send a special thanks to CK, who hosted the original 32 player Pwnshop UK server for the better part of a year, out of the kindness of his heart.
Also one last thank you to the Lord Zymeth from the BattleRealms.cc forums (now GamingTerritory). Way back in the day, this guy provided the 32 player delist bypass and he kept it up to date for quite a while as Valve continued to bully modified server owners. Props to you my good sir!
Everyone stay safe and GG's into the next year.

If you haven't noticed, the kamikaze feature is back. After a long search for the crash bug within kamikaze it was finally found and fixed. This means that kamikaze will once again be enabled on our server and will once again be one of the prizes in diceroll.
Another thing that has changed is the way we run the server. For almost a week now, we have been running One vs All gamemode every night. To be precise, we now run One vs All every night at 8pm eastern time (GMT-4) which lasts for few hours. If you are fan of the gamemode, join up! The server will run regular gamemode (with some excessive and melee only here and there) during the afternoon to evening hours.
Finally, if any of you have any suggestions for what we already have, please do not hesitate to leave us some feedback in our forum.

Today there was a new server-side TF2 patch.
This morning I updated the server and got some HLDS mailing list mails that for some server operators this patch makes the server crash frequently.
I had 1 crash short after the update but it seems there hasn't been another one yet.
If it crashes please tell me and I'll try to find what it causes.
Please report crashes in this thread.
